and stereotypes and history to elect the FIRST Indian-American as a
governor of any state in the United States. By getting 53% of the
votes, BOBBY JINDAL also becomes the FIRST NON-WHITE to get elected as
Governor of Louisiana!
PIYUSH "Bobby" JINDAL
(born June 10, 1971, in Baton Rouge) is the Republican Governor-elect
of the U.S. state of Louisiana.
Since 2004 he was an elected CONGRESSMEMBER from Louisiana's 1st
congressional district, where he was elected in 2004 to succeed current
U.S. Senator David Vitter. Further Bobby Jindal was re-elected to
Congress in the 2006 election with 88 percent of the vote. He will to
take his oath as governor on January 14, 2008.
Jindal was born in Baton Rouge to recently arrived Indian immigrants,
Amar and Raj Jindal, who were attending graduate school.
Although he goes by BOBBY as long as anyone can remember, his legal
name remains PIYUSH!
Jindal comes from A Hindu family but converted to Catholicism as a
teenager.
He attended high school at Baton Rouge Magnet High School. In 1991, he
graduated from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, with
honors in biology and public policy. Afterwards, he received a master's
degree in political science from New College, Oxford as a Rhodes
Scholar. After Oxford, he joined McKinsey & Company, a consulting
firm.
